Matt Zefferman (formerly Zimmerman) is a post-doctoral research fellow at the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS).  He is an evolutionary social scientist who uses mathematical and computer models to study the origins of human institutional complexity. He has a PhD from the University of California, Davis, where he was a member of the cultural evolution laboratory.
